But they always said things like disorders, and the mental issues we deal with now would be gone too. Wouldn't that include emotional pain?Logically, you would say yes. This highlights how simplistic the JW teaching is. As you rightly said in your earlier post it's often another person that's the source of emotional pain,so how would they be removed in a paradise earth? Good point.
There is no way that perfection can be achieved as we would all be a race of emotionless zombies.

No pain in paradise?
by Hikaru iner... i'd like serious answers on this please, because it's been on my mind ever since brought up.. okay, so a friend and i were debating on aim, and it went to the paradise thing.
and he brought up a point...that i can't answer, grandma said there is an answer, but she doesn't know it.. so anyways, they say jehovah will wipe out pain in the new system.
but wouldn't he have to kill emotions and love then?

I think that this always pointed towards physical pain. It always seemed to be tied up with the no sickness and death routine. I didn't relate it to emotional pain so I suppose I don't have an answer to that.
Anything pain related was always discussed in terms of there being no physical symptoms, discomfort etc.

Do you know your personality type?
by bluecanary inwhat is your myers-briggs personality type?
if you're unfamiliar with it, you can take a test here: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp.
be warned that the test can be wildly inaccurate.

I'm an ESFP - we love to entertain! These tests are only ever a very broad guideline - personality is such as intangible concept to measure.

New World Translation, is it the best bible translation?
by littlebuddy inmy jw elder friend said to me that the nwt is the best translation of the bible and that scholars have said as much.
is this true and is it the best?
are there scholars who disagree?.

Exactly - this is why many people have a fundamental problem with religion. The bible appears to mutate or become fluid depending on whatever religious theology is being promoted, which can undermine its authenticity and credibility.
I always remember a line from the BBC Drama 'The Life and Loves of a She Devil' where a Priest character said, " There are truths, and there are half truths, and there's the bible. " I never forgot that line because it sums up the situation fairly accurately.
I think that the original bible has been tampered with by many different religions to serve their own purposes. This reinforces how dangerous it is to apply its contents rigidly to critical life situations, e.g. the blood issue.

Is it not quite obvious that Rolf Furuli, despite his credentials, is going to toe the party line? Does anyone honestly think that he is going to highlight mistranslations etc that would diminish the credibility of his religious organisation? As we all know that would get him a one way ticket to Shunsville.
The point is that this guy's comments, support etc are based on a biased viewpoint as disagreeing would no doubt be disastrous for him personally. This clearly limits his professional credibility.

As someone who has worked in this area for a few years I have noticed a new 'breed' of student. They want everything given to them on a plate and have developed what you would describe as a 'learned helplessness'. This also means that they lack initiative and often don't take responsibility for their own mistakes and failures. Students are now much more demanding and don't hesitate to assert what they consider to be their 'rights'.
It's not unusual to have to waste time in a class telling alleged grown ups to stop talking and worst of all stop text messaging. Another pain is the endless tales of woe you get on the day an assignment is due in - this is when the 48 hr virus is at it's height and countless grandparents and other relatives decide to kick the bucket.
This girl has done herself no favours at all and this will backfire on her big time. No employer will want a troublemaker with her kind of attitude.
